The Level 2 Group Training Sessions qualification will provide you with a platform to enter the fitness industry. By completing this CIMSPA & REP recognised course, you can pursue a career as a Group Training instructor teaching classes in the UK or Internationally and potentially earn an annual salary in the region of £25k-£30k. You will develop knowledge and understanding about the following topics:
- Anatomy and physiology of the human body and how this relates to exercise and health, including postural and core stability.
- key principles of exercise, fitness, and health, including the components, principles, and variables of fitness, the health and benefits of physical activity, and the importance of healthy eating.
- How to develop effective working relationships with clients, how to provide ongoing customer services, and how to support clients to adhere to exercise/physical activity.
- Maintain health, safety, and welfare in a fitness environment, including the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults.
- Collecting and using participant’s information in order to plan safe and effective group training sessions.
Many of those who complete the Level 2 Group Training qualification often go on to complete the Level 2 Award in Instructing Studio Cycling, Level 2 Instructing Kettlebell Exercises, or Level 2 Circuit training to further their knowledge.
A degree of physical fitness is necessary.
You should have basic skills in communication.
You should be a minimum of 16 years old to undertake this qualification.
The course itself is made up of 6 units, offering both a practical and theory-based learning opportunity. Our tutors have over 20 years of industry experience, giving all our students the opportunity to learn from their knowledge and experience.
Unit 1 – Principles of health and wellbeing for exercise, fitness, and health
Unit 2 – Anatomy, physiology and kinesiology for exercise and health
Unit 3 – Know how to support client’s lifestyle management and enhance client motivation for exercise and physical activity.
Unit 4 – Principles for professional practice and health and safety in a fitness environment
Unit 5 – Planning professional practice with effective consultations and assessments for group training sessions
Unit 6 – Instructing professional practice and effective exercise supervision in group training sessions.
The assessment and duration of the Level 2 Group Training qualification is wholly dependent on the learning method that you opt for.
The online learning method can see you qualify in just 4-6 weeks by choosing our fast-track learning option. The qualification is assessed in several ways – such as a coursework portfolio, open book multiple-choice exams, 20 hours industry experience and a practical assessment.
By opting for the Face-to-Face option, you can complete the Level 2 Group Training course in a more flexible time frame. All students will complete a coursework portfolio and open book multiple-choice exams, 20 hours industry experience and then a face-to-face practical assessment at your chosen venue with a qualified tutor.
You will receive 2 years to complete your qualification.
